As part of the LockLeagues Beta, we are rolling out a selection of premade league formats. For those who are looking for league setup inspiration, or if you’re looking for a fun way to interact with an important sporting event like the World Cup or March Madness, preset league formats are the way to go. For the start of beta the following templates will be available: Grab Bag, Handicapper, World Cup, and Seamheads.
The Grab Bag league is intended as the starting point for any beta tester who isn’t too familiar with the LockLeagues format. Any pick that LockLeagues offers is allowed, as long as another league member hasn’t already taken it. Every participant has to make 3 picks in each 1 week window. After 5 windows, the champ is crowned.
Based on the original concept behind LockLeagues, the Handicappers league is simple yet challenging–ideal for the more experienced prognosticator. While all sports are still allowed, a new pick is required daily for 30 straight days. As with all LockLeagues, picks for every window must be made on games within the window. That means for this format you’ll be waking up and making a pick on a game later that day.
The final two leagues are seasonal and sport-specific. The World Cup League will follow the World Cup, and the Seamheads league type will follow the MLB up to the all-star break. World Cup leagues will last from June 10 to July 11, which covers both the group and knockout stages of the tournament. All league members have to make 3 world cup soccer picks for every 4 day window. This league allows for duplicate picks within the league, no unique requirement. You will not be able to see other players’ picks until the games start. Launching on June 1, the Seamheads league requires 2 picks every 3 days, with only the MLB on offer. You can start one of these leagues after the specified start date but you will have less total windows in your league.
