How LockLeagues Works
-
Windows
Windows determine how often users make picks. Each league sets a required number of picks per window, which can follow a daily, weekly, or custom schedule. Think of the window like a week of the football season, where every team has to play one game. In LockLeagues (depending on your setup), you have to make the required number of picks per window or you will be penalized. Picks must be made during the window on games within the window.
-
Missed Picks
Missing picks comes with a penalty. For example, if your league requires 4 picks per window and you only make 2 picks in a window, you would be hit with a 2x missed pick penalty. The exact penalty for missed picks is set by the league manager.
-
Odds Limitations
Each league can customize the range of minimum and maximum odds to shape the style of competition. Want high-risk, high-reward picks? Set the minimum odds at +250 with an extremely high maximum. Prefer tighter matchups? Set the minimum at -150 and the maximum at +150.
-
Unique Picks (Optional)
If you want, turn on unique picks for your league. Once a pick is selected, it's off the board. In this game mode all picks are public instantly, so you can see who's sharp (or who to fade).
-
Standings
League standings are based on performance relative to pick odds, referred to as your "delta." Play it safe with a heavy favorite, or take a chance on a longshot for big rewards.
Frequently Asked Questions
Use the league filter on the picks screen to view only legal picks for the league. On the submit picks screen, only leagues the pick is valid in will be available.
LockLeagues supports a variety of sports markets including moneylines, point spreads, and totals. Available markets depend on the sport and event.
The spread predicts the expected margin of victory between two teams. For example, "Team A -3.5" means Team A is favored to win by 4 points or more. "Team B +3.5" means Team B is expected to lose by 3 points or less or win outright.
The final score is used to determine whether a spread pick wins or loses.
Example Spread
Hover over each team to see when you'd pick them
A moneyline pick is simply choosing which team will win the game outright. Favorites are shown with negative odds (e.g., -150), while underdogs are shown with positive odds (e.g., +200).
Unlike spread picks, the margin of victory does not matter, only the final winner.
An over/under, also known as a total, predicts the combined score of both teams. For example, if the total is set at 105.5:
Picking the over means you expect the combined score to be greater than 105.5
Picking the under means you expect the combined score to be less than 105.5
The winner is determined by the total points scored in the game.
Example Over/Under
Hover over each side to see when you'd pick them
Odds represent the probability of an outcome and determine the potential return for a pick. American odds are displayed as either positive (+) or negative (-) numbers.
Negative odds (e.g., -150) indicate the favorite and show how much must be risked to win 100 units.
Positive odds (e.g., +200) indicate the underdog and show how much would be won on a 100 unit wager.
Win: Your pick was correct. Your delta increases based on the difficulty and odds of the selection.
Loss: Your pick was incorrect. Your delta decreases due to the impact on your record.
Push: The result exactly matched the spread or over/under (e.g., Team A favored by 3 wins by exactly 3). Your pick is returned with no win or loss. This is like a tie and has no impact on your delta.

When creating a league, league managers can customize: window duration, number of picks per window, minimum and maximum odds, which sports are included, and whether picks must be unique among members.
The short answer is no, but the league manager does have the power to delete picks before the game starts, so you can appeal to them.
The league manager has certain special privileges through the league management screen (accessible through the page for the specific league).
Before the league starts: change rules, remove members, change league password (if private), and delete the league
During competition: delete unsettled picks, transfer manager title, and update odds limitations and missed pick penalty
You can join a league any time before the end of window 1 of the league. Be careful about joining too late, you may miss the chance to make window 1 picks and take a penalty!
Your start date can be any time as long as you still have at least 16 hours left in window 1 when the league is created. We recommend creating a league about a week out so everyone has time to join and get ready.
