Week 4 Mortal Lock
What a slate of college football we have on Saturday. Marquee Matchups everywhere, playoff implications galore, and wall to wall action. Last week we were able to get back into the win column with a huge backdoor cover from Rice. Some might say it was lucky but in reality I think it was a game that Rice deserved to cover and wouldn’t have needed that TD if not for being on the bad end of some 4th down conversions and the inability to recover a fumble. Doesn’t matter though as that was last week and I’ve refocused on this week’s loaded board. Last week I ended up on a deeper, off the radar game but this week I will be doing the opposite. I am going straight into the belly of the beast and doing some big game hunting. I hope you brought your boots because we’re going straight into the swamp where the Florida Gators will take on the Ole Miss Rebels. Ole Miss is fresh off a huge victory over LSU in a game that they had circled for the entire offseason. That means they are ripe to fade and I think I’ve found the perfect spot and team to do it with. Florida nailed their offseason hirings in the form of new head coach Jon Sumrall and offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner (who brought QB Aaron Philo with him from Georgia Tech). Sumrall already has the Gators looking strong as they had an impressive win last week against Auburn in Jordan-Hare, which is always a tough place to play. With the strong start, I expect Gainesville to absolutely rocking as this fanbase has been waiting for a return to prominence. The offense is loaded with playmakers with none bigger than Jadan Baugh (458 yards and 8 TDs through 3 games). I won’t lie, fading Trinidad Chambliss is not an easy thing to do and I have no doubt he’ll make some plays and score some points. But in the words of 88,000 Gator fans, “I won’t back down”. This spot is too good to pass up and I trust Sumrall to have his team prepared. Give me the Gators! CHOMP CHOMP!
