Week 5 Mortal Lock

Congrats on conquering another work week and making it to a beautiful weekend of college football. We’ve entered October, a real football month. The air is getting crisp, cool winds are blowing, and the football games are starting to truly matter. Last week we had another winner in the form of the Florida Gators who could not be stopped against Ole Miss. I’m at two in a row and now I look to start stacking wins. In order to do that I need to forget about last week and turn my full attention to this Saturday. That brings us to Fort Worth, Texas, the home of the TCU Horned Frogs. The frogs will play host to the undefeated BYU Cougars, who are currently ranked 10th in the nation. With the frogs catching 6.5 points in Amon G. Carter stadium, I have no choice but to back the underdog here. TCU has not looked great this season so far, having lost twice to the only two power 4 teams they have played. However, I do not think that warrants this line as I believe the market has severely overreacted to the public perception of TCU. Time to buy in on the Horned Frogs at what I believe is the bottom of their market. In a game that they need, I expect a great effort from Jaden Craig (Harvard transfer), who is beginning to adjust to the uptick in competition and the new offensive scheme. On the other sideline, BYU has jumped up to one of the favorites in the Big 12 with their 4-0 start, but the only real team they have played as of now was Arizona, who had them on the ropes for a large portion of the game. This will be their first road test and with a 6:00 local time kickoff, I expect a riled-up home crowd for the frogs. The TCU defensive strength is in the run defense which will be needed to slow down the two headed attack of QB Bear Bachmeier and RB LJ Martin. The last important piece here is revenge. BYU absolutely embarrassed TCU last year in Provo, winning 44-13. Sonny Dykes will use this to keep his team motivated and hungry come Saturday night. Look for a big game from star receiver Jordan Dwyer(5 rec, 100 yards last week) and the Frogs to keep this close and maybe win outright. Go Horned Frogs!
