Champions League Recap

Congratulations to creamszn on winning the LockLeagues Champions League! The road was long, but through consistent winning picks, he prevailed. With the league over, it’s time torecap how the league formed and how creamszn was able to snatch the title from the other 5 challengers.

“The more I've played the more fun I've had” -creamszn

Each member of the Champions League qualified by winning their Speed League. The Speed League was a rigorous 4 day league taking place over the first weekend of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. There were 6 speed leagues with 6 competitors in each league. With each competitor having to make 4 college hoops picks for every 1 day window, consistency and timeliness were critical. Any missed pick would be devastating, and if you waited too long, the pick you wanted may have already been selected by another player. After the 4 days were completed, the Speed League champions were crowned, with WhiteMonsterFanatic winning the New York Picks, bennybags winning the Picky Blinders, SaturnBurger winning the Handicappers, RL winning God’s Silliest Soldiers, creamszn winning Bowlers Anonymous, and THEpickUwait4 winning Pick Numbers, Not Teams.

“While championships are the ultimate goal, I think we’ve shown a lot of growth through the leagues. We’ve trusted our models, built something that everyone can be proud of, and had a lot of fun along the way. Bags will be back.” -bennybags

To crown one true champion, each speed league winner joined the Champions League. The format of this league was quite different, spanning 21 days with 7 windows that required 3 picks each. This league coincided with the start of the NBA and NHL playoffs. Competitors could pick any NBA, NHL, or MLB game with odds between -300 and +500. After the first 3 windows, creamszn had a delta of -5.14 and was in dead last, while the leader, RL, held a delta of +1.54 units. Over the next 4 windows creamszn rocketed up the leaderboard and finished at an impressive delta of +3.40, barely beating out bennybags(+3.15) to take his first league lead when it mattered most. Although creamszn had only a 10-11 record overall compared to bennybags’ 13-8, bold underdog picks brought his delta to the top.

Congratulations again to creamszn and all speed league champions! Look out for these fierce competitors in upcoming Leagues.
